Purpose
Nursing Education Grants offered by the Pennsylvania Higher Education Foundation (PHEF) in partnership with other charitable organizations, as well as corporations and private donors to the initiative, are designed to help alleviate the state’s nursing shortage by helping schools increase capacity in their nursing programs and by generating new avenues to financial support otherwise not available to schools – and ultimately their students.
Overview
The Foundation awards grant funds to non-profit public and private nursing
schools operating in the state of Pennsylvania who will use the funds
to:
- increase enrollment
- improve student retention
- improve licensure pass rates
Schools can use the grants to complement existing recruitment, education
and retention programs already in place.
Over the last three academic years, PHEF has disbursed over $22 million to over 120 Pennsylvania Schools of Nursing, equaling an estimated 12,000 scholarships.
